I had a pedal car when I was a 5 year old kid. One day my dad took us to the mechanic and I got to watch our car's exhaust getting hammered while it was up on the hoist. When we got home I leaned my shiny red car up against the house and beat it with a hammer until it would roll no more.
God knows where songs come from, but the first words, 'shooting star' came off my tongue like a pied piper and the rest felt obliged to follow.
Dad died when I was 8 so getting the chance to live out a few more years of life with him in this song was pretty special.
3 Bricks Shy play on this: Charlie Knowles on bass; Tom Neville on Mando; me on guitar and vocals.
