My friend Lance Secretan had called me and asked if I would write a song to go with his book, 'Living The Moment' (we had collaborated before with his momentous 'The Key of Life' book).
I got off the phone, wrote the tune, and called him back to recite the lyric to him. Sincerely apolgetic, he pointed out that his 'Living The Moment' and my 'Living In This Moment' constituted a philosophical discrepancy and that, unfortunately, my song didn't fit his book's intent.
Dang ... the wind in my sails had been spent and my vessel was becalmed ... evidently the moment I was living when I was living in it had passed ... but ... I had a song to prove I'd been there.
Every time I listen to it I still am.
