This was one of those days when I tried to write a song on my keyboard. I sat down, came up with a melody that I quite liked, laboured over the lyric, got all crafty and smug with the melody, and then, after 8 hours, realized I had written a piece of absolute crap.
Sorely disappointed. Wrote if off as irretrievable. Sat there. Emptied.
Picked up my guitar and this song happened in the time that it took me to write it down. I then realized my 'wasted' 8 hours had cleared the way by exhausting my mind and getting it out of the way.
It was 1997, and even then one could feel pummeled by media. A year later I saw a bumper sticker with this song title on it.
